Often known (joking in a good natured way as he's known for) as the "Premier Drummer" for The Damned. Was the only core member of The Damned to stay (besides David Vanian) to stay on every studio recording (except Grave Disorder, a feet of it's own merit!) the band completed, until the sessions for Not Of This Earth. Apparently he made attempts to package, tour, and sell the band and this recording as his own to separate record labels. This inadvertently caused the reformation of Captain Sensible & David Vanian to sue Ratty and form the most stable line-up of The Damned without him. Ratty's defense was publicized, as it was "My turn" at the mantle of The Damned. "Dave, Captain, Brain (James), all had their go at it." He remains excluded from The Damned currently and played last with them in 1995. Now lives with his wife & two children in Brentford, UK. To be released April 23, 2005 (co-written by Christopher Dawes ) is a tell-aal book Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail billed as "A road trip, a rich historical yarn, and testimony to the odd nature of a great many friendships".
